Certifying vaccines and tests in a post-pandemic world

One of the challenges we’ll face as the World re-opens is that, without an effective cure or widely adopted vaccine, we run the risk of infection spikes simply because we have no way to accurately check who is, and who is not, ‘clean’. Estonia have recently announced an app they are launching, called Back to Work, which attempts to provide a way for users to verify their status regarding vaccination and testing. I’d be thinking about basically the same thing, as I’m sure many people have, over the last month or two, and now there’s something ‘out in the open’, I thought I might as well share what I was thinking.

Getting a Vimeo video thumbnail using the ID or URL

It should be easy to get an automatic thumbnail for your Vimeo videos, but if you have your videos set to private, it’s much more complex than it needs to be. Luckily, there is a way to get a thumbnail WITHOUT fully integrating the API and authenticating yourself.

DSAR (Data Subject Access Requests) - the hidden nightmare of GDPR compliance

By now, we’re all well aware of GDPR and what it might do to you if you ever suffer a data breach and are not prepared for it, but no one seems to ever talk about the other implications of GDPR, and how there’s provisions in there for you to be massively impacted without ever losing at data at all. I refer to DSARs – Data Subject Access Requests – and how, if you’re not ready to handle them, you could find yourself in a serious pickle.

Propositions, products, and why you need them – Part 2: Defining a product

A proposition is a declaration of who you are and your foot in the door with a new client; a product is what you can actually sell them. Understanding what you can do and how its relevant to customers’ needs is vital if you want to turn that initial proposal into a signed contract.

Propositions, products, and why you need them - Part 1

Remember the days when you could just be good at something, and people would hire you to do more of that for them? Those days are long gone. Selling your wares in 2019 (and beyond) requires more than years of experience and a list of case studies: you need to know who you are, what you can do, and how that can help the client. Come with me, on a voyage of propositions and products.

Why a website can cost £500 or £50,000, depending on your budget

“And finally, what’s your budget for this project?”. That’s probably the most hated question in digital. Clients hate being asked this, and because of that, agencies hate putting it to them. There remains a fear amongst clients that the teams they speak to about their project will simply price up to any given budget, essentially costing more that necessary. Is that actually true? Well…no. Not always, at least.

    Another day, another blog

Much like every agency will at some point try to build its own CMS, every single person who works in digital, in any capacity, will hit upon the idea of setting up their own blog. Multiple times. Dozens of times, most likely. Why do we do it?
